For many of us, our lives are cushioned with prosperity and freedom and our historical context is short. Our previous main titles for Band of Brothers and The Pacific transport viewers to a place where courage, brotherhood, and the exchange of one's life for the freedoms of others run deep. A continued legacy, Apple TV’s Masters of the Air, journeys through a narrative of ordinary men being asked to do extraordinary things, running toward the towering challenges of World War II. This next chapter is one that’s bigger than ourselves.
what we did
One of the most unique aspects of this story is where it's fought. We took flight 25,000 feet above the previous stories—above homes, concentration camps, foxholes, and generals. Honing the principles of past titles, we painted a heroic portrait that sought to feel timeless, not trendy. By interjecting the chaos and carnage of WWII airfare an evocative juxtaposition of heaven and hell is formed. With vignettes that maximize that contrast, the sky was our dominant motif. We made an intentional effort to use the sky’s POV as a backdrop in unpacking the unbearable environment airmen fought in and the liberties they longed for.
