The New Look
Main Title for AppleTV+
Set in 1940s Paris, we referenced historical timestamps of the Nazi regime and high fashion couture houses, threading the narrative of two worlds paralleled in time. alluding to truths beneath the surface, our main title for Apple TV’s The New Look blooms through the rubble. Ripping the seam to reveal the relationship between Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and other iconic couture rivals, we see how creation was more than just a statement but rather a survival tactic.
what we did
We created a well-tailored sequence by juxtaposing WWII's brutal and barren winters with Dior’s delicate and intricate design influence. Cutting out the patterns in two parts, our framework was constructed around motifs. Working alongside real seamstresses to develop shots, we conveyed an evocative portrayal of labor under the Nazis’ occupation. Stitching the seams of Paris’ divide back together, fields of lilies and camellias bloom, yet intertwine in competition. Seasons change like trends, as we witness what truths are revealed — seasons change like trends as we witness what flowers wilt, break, and bloom.
and then...
We traveled through the decades of fashion in the last episode of the season.
